I was encouraged by quite a few people to take the EVD (Emergency Vehicle Driver) course that was offered at MFD this past weekend. I had my doubts about going through with it. I would LOVE to be able to drive a fire truck. That's just a really cool thought! One day it'll be a good thing that I did it now, but boy was I a nervous wreck. I've NEVER been one to get nervous. I've been an athlete my entire life & played in front of crowds. I was officers in clubs in high school & college & never once minding standing up in front of people. Yesterday, however was a completely different story. This course of 7 different obstacle courses of +/- 250 orange traffice cones intimidated me like nothing ever has before. I never saw my score sheet, but I know I hit numerous cones & didn't get within my allowed measurements. Anyway, this was a brand new experience for me. I do look forward to getting more practice & being able to drive eventually. This is one more certification marked off my list!
Happy Valentine's Day!! This is mine & Joel's second Valentine's together. We haven't been able to spend much time together over the last few days, so I was really looking forward to spending some quality time together tonight. I'm not huge on having to do something special because it is Valentine's Day, because he's my Valentine every single day & we love each other & do special things for each other all the time. But this year it was a much needed date night just because of our crazy busy schedules lately. Long story short, I'm sitting at home alone now. He had mandatory con-ed at work tonight & went back early since they had a grass fire & needed personnel to stand-by at the station. I think I've seen him a total about 30 minutes today. I went to the gym & just had left-over stromboli for supper. I have a new appreciation for those that don't get to see their Valentine at all today. And for those that are seperated for long periods of time. I will get to see Joel on Wednesday, so it's not too terribly long. I am very blessed to have such a great fiance & can't wait to spend our first Valentine's together as a married couple! I love him to pieces!!
